Akuapim South Municipal Assembly holds Second Ordinary General Assembly Meeting

2025 2nd General Assembly Meeting The Akuapim South Municipal Assembly held its second ordinary meeting of the second session of the fourth Assembly on November 1, 2025, to deliberate on key developmental and administrative matters.

The meeting, presided over by the Presiding Member, Hon. Michael Ahwireng, brought together the Member of Parliament, Lawrencia Adwoa Dziwornu, Municipal Chief Director, Madam Lydia Akueteh, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Paul Osae Offei, representatives from the security services, NADMO, Heads of Department and staff of the Assembly.

In his welcome address, Hon. Ahwireng commended members for their commitment to the municipality’s growth. He urged them to avoid politicizing assembly issues and to engage constructively in discussions aimed at advancing local development. The meeting agenda was presented, adopted, and deliberated upon.

Addressing the Assembly, Member of Parliament, Hon. Adwoa Dziwornu assured members that efforts were underway to fix the Dago–Fahiakor road, and called on the assembly, to prioritize child protection, ensuring that policies and community practices uphold the rights of minors and eliminate all forms of abuse.

In his opening remarks, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Paul Osae Offei, praised assembly members for their teamwork and provided updates on various developmental areas, including security, education, roads, sanitation, agriculture, and revenue mobilization. He also announced that Ing. Hon. Stephen Atikpo had been appointed as the new Municipal Chief Director, following the transfer of Madam Lydia Akuettey to the ERCC after years of dedicated service.

During deliberations, members reviewed and approved key documents such as the 2026 Draft Annual Action Plan (AAP), the 2026 Composite Budget, the Fee-Fixing Resolution, and the Revenue Improvement Action Plan. Bye-laws on sand-winning operations were also discussed and adopted.

Assembly members further raised concerns about challenges facing the municipality, including poor road networks, inadequate sanitation facilities, and issues in the education sector, which were addressed by relevant authorities. The Municipal Budget Officer, Madam Lois Ayeh reported that the estimated annual budget for 2025 was GH¢34,563,724.24, out of which GH¢10,562,974.33 had been realized as of September 30th, 2025.

The meeting successfully achieved its objective, as members thoroughly discussed developmental issues and approved major policies and bye-laws essential for the progress of the Akuapim South Municipality. The Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to collaborative governance and sustainable local development.
